Include Product Variants in 'Subscription Changes' options to allow us to use them for Membership Levels
Kristina Smith
Right now on Products > Prices, we can only allow a user to switch to a longer/shorter period or longer period only. If we could include switching between Product Variants here, this would greatly simplify Membership Levels which currently require multiple products.
Using Product Variants as membership levels would be a great way to keep all of the Membership participants on the same product and make it a neater way to manage communication and accesses.
Thank you for considering!

There are a couple ways to do this, you can add a new pricing level with the name of the Variant and tie that price to that same Variant. The variant really is about different access, so different price gives different variant access.
There are also membership level product groups functionality that allow variant type membership levels but it is hidden and not well developed and thought after discussing with Calvin and other devs a few times they were working on some improvements for that but have not heard any updates. So close option is here but that is all for now: https://help.simplero.com/courses/1837-how-to-guides/lessons/339741-membership-levels

Directory Toolkit Hey! Yes, we use the Membership Levels a lot across our Simplero clients, but would love to see Variants being used to do similar/better things and keep it all a bit neater on one product :)
Currently all we can do when someone wants to change their subscription is do it by a longer or shorter period (or change between Membership Levels with the 'groups' we have currently) - what I'm looking for is to allow end users to switch between Variants too - using Variants rather than multiple products to determine accesses etc, keeping all members on the same product rather than split between all of the products we currently need to make Membership Levels work.
The reason I feel this would be neater is because my clients (I work with between 20-30 Simplero admins), often forget to include participants of all 'Membership Level' products when they're emailing members, or have to go searching and merge product information when they're looking at their Membership sales stats, again, when they're split across different products for the ability to use Membership Levels.
If Membership levels could be managed by Variants inside one singular product, that, to me, makes more sense in most cases I've worked with. 🙏

Kristina Smith Ok got it. That is a different perspective than I originally got so glad that was added. There may be some added benefit to having variants of levels that you would lose but fixing this would also get around another issue that still exists that level upgrades do not show if I give a base product for free. If we add variants as an upgrade option we would be able to finally allow upgrades for these groups. For Simplero I also see no real benefit of variants in practice as a means to providing different access as we can do that same from a price trigger so might as well do this fix for upgrades and keep levels of One product actually as one product at least as an option.
